A Morning Birding with Jeremy

I planned to go birding all day with Jeremy on the 30th, but unfortunately, the ice on the roads only got us to Hillman Marsh Conservation Area where we walked the entire trail. The highlight of the rainy morning was a Long-eared Owl flying overhead. We also had nice views of a Red-shouldered Hawk calling.

There were tons of American Tree Sparrows, but surprisingly, we didn't see one Junco! Other species we saw included the following:

Song Sparrow
Canada Geese
Common Mergansers
Northern Cardinals
Brown-headed Cowbirds
Red-tailed Hawk
Rough-legged Hawk
Mourning Doves
Blue Jay
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Black-capped Chickadees
European Starlings
American Goldfinches

  1. Interesting. I was down to Pelee this morning and headed home around Hillman Marsh and saw a Red-shouldered hawk!
I was anticipating a waterfowl movement, but not the fog! The ducks were there somewhere.....
